What is the real price?

Maybe you've heard the saying "There's a big difference between price and cost - 'price' is what you pay for something and 'cost' is how that decission affects you." - A good example is buying a car - choosing a cheaper car will save you money in the short term compared to a better or newer car, however the long term 'costs' include: higher maintanance fees, the stress of worrying about breakdowns, lower 'status' and I'm sure you can begin to imagine other 'costs' too. Now consider photography. Working with a professional means increased quality, which means having the best quality images to enjoy and use and making the best use of your valuable time and as my clients will tell you, great photos pay for themselves...

To provide you with a rough idea of his pricing here are some typical scenarios. The actual price will vary and may well work out even less depending on factors such as travel, equipment needs, duration and expenses incurred. Corporate Event: 1 day shoot + 1 days post production	£1,400
Traditional Wedding: All day shoot + 2 days post production	£1,600
Digital Retouching/Digital Image Manipulation	£170/hour
Studio Shoots/ Family Portraiture/ Fashion etc: 1hour + 1hour free post production	£175/hour of studio time
After the shoot the client will receive proofs of the images from the shoot and will choose the images they want. These images are then purchased so that the client owns them fully including copyright. Depending on the shoot it may be agreed in advance that a certain number of images will be included in the price and Mark is happy to discuss your needs in advance. Typically each image is priced at £130 incl. for full copyright ownership. The images are in the range of 10 to 15 mega pixels which can be enlarged well beyond A1 size. Many clients quickly realize that this compares very favorably against generic images from sites like iStock where it is possible to spend hundreds on an image that other people have already used and which has restricted usage in terms of license as you don't get to own the copyright.
